SMU in Bowls in Texas: The Mustangs are 3-4-1 in eight bowl games in the state of Texas, most recently a 16-14 loss to Army in the 2010 Armed Forces Bowl, which was played at Ford Stadium on the SMU campus. The Mustangs last win in a Texas bowl was a 7-3 triumph over Pittsburgh in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1, 1983, to preserve SMU’s undefeated season (10-0-1).
Stadium Kicks: The DXL Frisco Bowl is one of four bowl games set to be played at the home stadium of a Major League Soccer team (FC Dallas plays at Toyota Stadium).
